Wecome to JP Institute of Software

At IEEE Conference on Software Engineering in Florence, Italy

Hello, I am Dr. June Sung Park.  I am sharing information, knowledge and opinion on critical contemporary issues in enterprise IT on this site since February 2018.

Discussions in this blog take the form of patterns and anti-patterns.  I am trying to identify recommendable patterns of software business management, software requirement engineering, and software architecture design.  I found interesting interrelatedness among the patterns across the different subject areas.

I also introduce VOLF (value-obsessed lean framework)--a software development framework that I have been developing together with several friends.  VOLF has been taught to thousands of software professionals and graduate students, and adopted by an increasing number of software development organizations.

A brief introduction of myelf:  I obtained BBA and MBA from Seoul National University  and Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Computer Science and Industrial & Systems Engineering from the Ohio State University.   I served as tenured professor of Information Systems in the University of Iowa.  I also served as Invited Professor of Computer Science in Tsinghua University and of Industrial and Systems Engineering in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

My industrial experience includes serving as a member of the Software Advisory Council for HP, .net Regional Director for Microsoft Korea, Chief Technology Officer for Samsung SDS, IT Advisor for LG Electronics, and President of KOSTA Institute of Software Education.

My professional activities include serving as Chairman for INFORMS Technical Section on Telecommunications, Chairman for Software Engineering Method and Theory (SEMAT), Chairman for Object Management Group(OMG)'s Essence Standard Revision Task Force, and currently Chairman of Korea Software Technology Association (KOSTA).  I am listed in Marquis Who's Who in the World, in Science and Engineering, in Media and Communications, and in the Midwest (although I am not sure if I should be proud of that, since there has been some criticism about how people are selected for those directories).
